Michael L. Marvin CFP®
Michael has been helping individuals and small businesses realize their financial objectives for more than a decade. His path to financial services has given him uncommon insights into the economic and political drivers that dictate market shifts, as well as a personal knowledge in business planning.
Michael began his working life on Capitol Hill, working for several members of Congress. He served as the chief of staff to the late Congressman Silvio Conte of Massachusetts, and as legislative director for the late Congressman Frank Horton of New York. Michael also served on the staff of former Congressman Don Bonker of Washington State. He has testified before numerous committees in the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives, been the featured guest on C-SPAN and the Dianne Rehm Show, appeared on Moneyline with Lou Dobbs and the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, and been quoted extensively in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post. For five years, Michael served as a member of the Department of Commerce's Environmental Technologies Trade Committee, a federal advisory committee that advises the Secretary of Commerce on U.S. trade policy, and he served as president of The Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) for nearly a decade.
Today, Michael is an active member of the National Association of Financial Advisors (NAPFA) and the Financial Planning Association (FPA). Michael holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington and a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University. A graduate of the Financial Planning Program at Georgetown University, Michael earned a Certified Financial Planning® (CFP®) designation in 2004.
Michael and his wife Anne Uchitel Marvin live in Annapolis. Their twin sons, Alex and Trevor, play high-school football, basketball and lacrosse for the Severn School, participate in a national club debate team, and play a mean guitar—all of which keep their parents extremely busy. Michael has served as vice president of the Annapolis Triathlon Club and is proud to have completed his first Ironman at age 50.
